IGN Exclusive Review: 9.0

The first review of Shantae: Risky's Revenge is up, and Craig Harris has delivered his verdict.  Shantae again weighs in at a solid 9.0 as she did nearly a decade ago.  You can read the full review right here!

  1. Great review! No surprise really. I knew it'd be good.

I did have a question: an early Nintendo Power preview said when Shantae was still episodic that each episode would be around 3-4 hours long. But IGN's review of the full game says it's 6 hours.

I'm just wondering if content was held back or cut from the full release?

I don't mind since I'm sure there's a possible 3DS release with this extra content, but I just wanted to know if the DSi release is the full game with all three planned episodes.

  2. @Anon:

They scrapped the episodic thing; so yeah, the normal quest is approx. 6-7 hours, though, I'm not quite sure if this includes all/if any bonus side quests (like the Warp Squids and Fireflies from the original), which would totally bring the game length up an hour or so.

  5. Will we ever get the original Shantae GBC game maybe for DSiWare? Or if not, on 3DS?

  6. It's possible. It's already been confirmed that the 3DS Virtual Console will host GB, GBC, and GBA games. Cross your fingers, I guess!

  7. "One of - if not the best game you can download for your Nintendo DSi." --IGN

It most certainly isn't the best game I can download for my DSi.

It's not a game I can download for my DSi at all.

    I live in Europe! :'(

  8. I just beat this game today. AMAZING! It's only flaw is that it's too short. I am already ready for a sequel. A sequel on the 3DS would be great.
